I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
– Romans 12:1-2
On Saturday, November 7th , Kathy and I had the pleasure of attending the annual Success Celebration that is hosted by the Tarrant County Community Partnership Counsel. There were approximately 45, who were chosen from more than 10,000, to be honored for their achievements. Congratulations to both Earl Burkhart and Paul McFarland who received an award.
This event reminds me of the importance of the work we do at Southside in bringing Hope and community to those who have lost their way in this broken and fallen world. Jesus came to seek and save the lost and has commissioned us to share that message. Many of us, as partners in the gospel at Southside, have contributed to the lives of those who have an opportunity for a “do-over.” God is in the transformation business. Finding HOPE was formed to help facilitate that transition. We average around 70 on Sunday mornings and 35 on Wednesday nights. We welcome them from various areas: our neighborhood, transitional living homes, the House of Redemption, The Life House, The VOA Riverside, The Abode, Union Gospel Mission, and The Salvation Army’s First Choice program. There are many who go to the highways and byways sharing the love and message of redemption found in Jesus Christ. I am thankful for all of the teachers, faith partners, mentors, and friends that welcome these brothers and sisters into the family of Christ at Southside.
